The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has identified a suspect and forwarded charges in connection with a fatal stabbing on northbound I-5 near South 375th Street in Federal Way that happened on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

WSP said the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m., when they received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a domestic violence situation involving a black BMW.

Callers reported seeing several injured individuals in and around the BMW, which was partially in the right ditch.

There were also reports of a shooting associated with the vehicle. Upon arrival, troopers found a male and a female with stab wounds who had distanced themselves from the car. Another male, found on the ground next to the vehicle, had multiple gunshot wounds.

Sadly, the driver – who had a large stab wound to his neck – was found deceased in the car.

Troopers confirmed that all four individuals involved were in the BMW, with no other vehicle or persons involved. The injured were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Initially, it was unclear who was the suspect and who were the victims. The scene was processed by WSP detectives and the Crime Scene Response Team, and it was cleared by 11 p.m.

Further investigation, including interviews, revealed that one of the adults in the back seat was the suspect who had stabbed the driver and the other two passengers. This suspect, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, remains in the hospital. Once medically cleared, the suspect will be booked into King County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.

The identities of those involved will not be released until the suspect is booked or charges are filed by the King County Prosecutor’s Office.
