UP tourism is "great" this summer, official says
IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Summer tourism is going very well in the Upper Peninsula. That’s according to Tom Nemacheck, Executive Director of the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association. He says while activity is not record-breaking as it was during the pandemic, tourism reports from every region are “great.” Nemacheck says even so, there’s no way to make up for losses businesses endured during the low-snow winter.

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN — U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten today announced that Todd Stafford, 60, of Bailey’s Harbor, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 156 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release after being convicted of coercion and enticement of a minor and two counts of travel in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Missing 79-year-old man found dead in Dickinson County
NORWAY, MI— A missing Wisconsin man has been found deceased in Dickinson County. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Norway Police Department received a report of a missing 79-year-old Oconto man over the weekend. His wife told deputies he left home around 10 a.m. Saturday to go off-road dirt biking on his motorcycle in the Norway area. She had expected him to be gone a few hours, then return home.

Teenaged Boy Hurt After Pulling Bike In Front Of Car Near Big Bay
A 14-year-old Big Bay boy is suffering what are called non life-threatening injuries after his bike collided with a car Saturday afternoon. The sheriff says it happened just after two on County Road 550 at Perkins Park. Deputies say the youngster pulled in front of the driver, a 16-year-old boy from Gwinn. The crash in under investigation. The victim was taken by ambulance to U-P Health Systems Marquette.
