On top of losing two vessels, and temporarily a third, in one day on our Anacortes/San Juan Islands route to mechanical issues, we’ve seen an increase in crewing cancellations due to health-related relief requests and vacation leave. This temporary setback is difficult to digest, especially since we recently had our first week with no canceled sailings due to crewing since the pandemic began.

The Rivers of Life Center, in collaboration with the Oregon City Business Alliance, welcomes community members to embark on a cruise to Willamette Falls, and through West Linn, Lake Oswego and Gladstone. The cruise, where attendees will board a 65-foot vessel and then travel 40 miles along the Willamette River from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturday, Sept. 4, costs $50. After fatal drug overdose, Oregon State Hospital resumes limited in-person visits for patients
Oregon State Hospital will resume in-person visits for some patients on Monday after suspending them in May after a patient died of a suspected fentanyl overdose. Officials at the state-run psychiatric facility suspended in-person visits between patients and their family and friends so the hospital could retool its visiting policies, with an eye toward preventing visitors from passing drugs or other contraband on to patients. The hospital has nearly 700 patients between its main campus in Salem and a smaller satellite campus in Junction City.

Man run over by an RV in Vancouver parking lot after a fight ID’d by police
The man who was run over and killed by another man driving an RV after a fight in a Vancouver parking lot has been identified. Sundance Rainbow Goodroad, 46, died from blunt force injuries on July 9 after Andrew R.
