Planche à roulette for the gold
Fernandina Beach’s own Poe Pinson, who got her start at the Main Beach Skate Park, pictured, will compete Sunday in the Paris Olympic games. The skateboard event will begin at 6 a.m. local time, with the top eight skaters from the preliminaries advancing to the final round. An outpouring of support is evident in the local community, from fundraising to help Pinson’s family attend the games to public watch parties such as the one at Mocama Beer Company Sunday morning. An Olympic homecoming parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Central Park in Fernandina Beach.
