2 killed in head-on crash on Highway 126 in Fillmore

Two women were killed in a two-vehicle, head-on collision Friday night in Fillmore, authorities said.

The crash was reported shortly before 7 p.m. along a rural portion of eastbound Highway 126 also known as Ventura Street at Clay Street, said Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. James Sullivan Saturday morning. The sheriff's office is contracted by the city of Fillmore for police services.

Sullivan said a total of six people, in two vehicles were involved in the collision. Ventura County Fire and AMR ambulance services also arrived.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the other four were transported to local hospitals, he said. It was not immediately clear if the two women who died were in the same vehicle.

As of Saturday morning, no one had been cited or arrested as a result of the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing, Sullivan said.
