Former Norris Titan, Kale Fountain, drafted to the San Diego Padres in the MLB
Firth, NE -- A southeast Nebraska athlete is heading to the MLB after a state championship season at Norris High School. Kale Fountain, who will be playing baseball next spring in Baton Rouge for the Louisiana State Tigers, was drafted with the 151st pick in the 2024 MLB Draft Sunday to the San Diego Padres.
Nebraska offers scholarship to junior college power forward
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered a scholarship to a top junior college player. Xavier Edmonds is a class of 2025 power forward from Salt Lake (Utah) C.C. Last season, he appeared in 32 games, averaging 20.8 minutes per appearance. Edmonds also averaged 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-8 power forward shot 55% from the field, 31% from the three-point line, and 66% from the free-throw line. The California native was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023. Nebraska football has hired a coach whose son is a four-star prospect at wide receiver. Jamar Mozee announced on Sunday that he was hired by NU as a senior football assistant. Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff: No. 45 RB Izaac Dickey
Just 45 days remain until kickoff of Nebraska football program’s 125th season. In the player spotlight with officially a month and a half to go before August 31 is Nebraska freshman running back Izaac Dickey. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Dickey walked-on to the Huskers this offseason after officially committing to the program last June. Dickey is a native of Stromsburg, Nebraska and had a terrific career at Cross County High School where he was a three-year starter at fullback for the Cougars. During his high school career, Dickey totaled nearly 1,800 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. He was also a standout on defense with over 200 career tackles. With the Huskers, Dickey will be a valuable depth piece in the backfield.
