Mecha disaffiliates from UW-Madison
Mecha de Teejop, formerly Mecha de UW-Madison, announced their independence from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Thursday. The organization disaffiliated on June 17 after they were suspended by Dean of Students Christina Olstad on May 6 during a Committee on Student Organizations (CSO) investigation into antisemitic chalkings found at the Dane County Farmers’ Market.
District introduces new non-discrimination policy
The Stoughton Area School District Board of Education discussed at its Monday, July 1 meeting a new federal non-discrimination policy that will be in effect. District superintendent Daniel Keyser introduced the new Title IX policy that will be put into effect on August 1, 2024 as required by Federal law. This policy states that the SASD “does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX, including in admission and employment.”
OHS alum Buskager graduates from Next Gen Responder Academy
After graduating from Oregon High School last month, Brook Buskager could have taken it easy for a while. Instead, he enrolled - and recently graduated from - Madison College’s NextGen Responder Academy, a program for high school juniors and seniors to be licensed as emergency medical responders and firefighters.

Stoughton’s Krcma named to Wartburg College Dean’s List
Stephen Krcma of Stoughton was named to the Wartburg College Winter/May Term Dean's List. The college recognized 466 students for Winter/May Term. The list honors students who earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the terms. Four of the five course credits have to be graded with a traditional letter grade.
