Top to Toe 5K Race Coming to Mitchell County on August 3rd
The Top to Toe 5K is an adventurous descent from the top of a quto the bottom of the Toe River valley. Built for record chasers and families alike, this course begins at The Quartz Corp’s Chalk Mountain and ends at Riverside Park in Spruce Pine. The race proceeds benefit Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce, NC Mineral and Gem Festival. Each registered participant receives one free admission ticket to the NC Mineral and Gem Festival as well as a t-shirt!

Multiple potential answers — ranging from hilarious to tragic — will be featured in Before the Scream, the showcase component of Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance’s Season 2024. Performances take place Thursday, July 25-Saturday, July 27, at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, and include two additional acts, each composed of their own series of vignettes.

ASHEVILLE - Police have charged a second man with ethnic intimidation after an assault of three seminar attendees at the West Asheville Library June 29. Tyler Byrne Hackett Kelly, 33, faces one charge of misdemeanor ethnic intimidation "specifically for his actions" at the library, according to a July 18 news release from the Asheville Police Department.
