    Flagler Beach Police investigate 'suspicious' death of woman; person of interest arrested

    Flagler Beach Police are investigating the "suspicious" death of a woman whose body was found Thursday, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

    The body of Sally J. Byrd, 66, a resident of the Pebble Beach Village community in Flagler Beach, was discovered Thursday by authorities. A cause of death has yet to be determined.

    Police say a "a person of interest" was arrested Thursday evening in Washington County, Georgia with the victim's car.

    David Brownstone, 64, residency unknown, was arrested for grand theft auto and remains in custody in Georgia until he can be extradited back to Florida, according to authorities.

    Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney stated Saturday that “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Byrd’s family and friends during this most difficult of times."

    The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the case.
