NASCAR set for a very long break after weekend at Indianapolis in 2024
NASCAR is set to return to the oval layout at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend; however, this will be the final Cup Series race in July. After Sunday, NASCAR will have a two-week break due to the Olympics, which are taking place in Paris. The racing series doesn’t participate, but NBC provides event coverage until the end. So, what are the details behind NASCAR’s two-week break that will undoubtedly be a relief for teams and drivers? NASCAR will return at Richmond Raceway on August 10-11, but there will be 19 days of zero on-track action from July 22 to August 9. Meanwhile, the Xfinity Series won’t return until Michigan on August 16-17, which is 26 days of no racing. It’s a very long break for NASCAR, but it will allow teams to regroup ahead of the playoff push. Four races will be left in the Cup Series regular season, which gives NASCAR a good stretch of 14 straight weekends to end the 2024 campaign.
