Driver injured after police chase leads to crash in Florence

FLORENCE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Florence Police Department says the driver of a car that ran from officers early Friday morning was injured in a crash.

The chase reportedly took place on July 5 at around 1:30 a.m. after a car made an improper turn on Cloverdale Road.

Police said the driver reached speeds over 90 miles an hour while trying to elude officers and making several turns. The driver eventually lost control and hit a light pole around County Road 42 and Chisholm Road, according to officials.

The driver was the only person in the car and they were taken to the North Alabama Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Florence Police are still investigating the incident.
