Evacuation order downgraded in wildfire south of Florence

Florence fire crews on Wednesday night are no longer on scene at a large structure and brush fire in the area of Pinebrook and Dogwood roads  south of Florence in the Cactus Forest community.

State forestry crews remain on scene with the most recent information showing the fire as 35% contained, a post on the Florence Fire & Medical Department Facebook page stated.

In an earlier Facebook post, the Florence Fire & Medical Department reported that a "Structure fire and wildland fire continue to burn. The area has been evacuated by PCSO. Crews continue to work the area with multiple agencies putting out spot fires,"

As the fire blazed PCSO deputies were "evacuating an area including Dogwood Road, Pinebrook Road and Flint Lane in Cactus Forest,” AMR Central Arizona emergency services stated on its Facebook page. “This area is in a “go” evacuation status. Please evacuate immediately.”

By e arly eveing, PCSO downgraded the evacuation status to "set" and on Wednesday night, residents affected by the earlier evacuation order were allowed to return to their homes, according to  the Florence Fire & Medical's Facebook post.
