    Sidewinder Fire south of Florence contained

    Fire crews have fully contained the Sidewinder Fire south of Florence.

    The blaze, which started May 25, was located northeast of State Route 79 and northwest of the Cactus Forest area, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management reported.

    Before the day was out, the fire’s forward progress had been stopped and was 50% contained at almost 58 acres acres. On May 26, firefighters had the blaze 100% contained.

    The Sidewinder Fire was the third desert blaze south of Florence since May 22. The Pinebrooke Fire was sparked 6 miles south of Florence-west of SR 79. It was 100% contained at 8 acres on May 23.

    As firefighters were working on the Pinebrooke Fire on May 23, the Dotbug Fire started in the desert area along State Route 79 and East Paisano Drive,  about 11 miles south of Florence, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

    The Dotbug Fire was 100% contained on May 24 at almost 150 acres.
