National Civil Rights Museum hosts symposium on Mississippi Freedom Summer Project's 60th anniversary
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Civil Rights Museum will host a community symposium on the 60th Anniversary of Freedom Summer on Saturday, July 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The symposium, a hybrid event, will feature activists from the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) who will share their experiences of the Freedom Summer Project, a grassroots effort to help register African-American voters in Mississippi in 1964.

July 19 Friday Nights at Milepost 89 to feature Ferguson and Avalon
The July 19 music offering at Friday Nights at Milepost 89 will feature the duo Bridgid Ferguson and Tim Avalon. The multi-instrumentalists will perform songs like “Walking After Midnight” by Patsy Cline, “When I Go Away” by Levon Helm, “Seven Year Itch” by Roseann Cash, and some original songs. They will play guitar, mandolin, violin, and National resonator guitar, along with vocals. Admission to each performance is at least eighty-nine cents. Friday Nights at Milepost 89 takes place on the third Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. inside the Clinton Visitor Center.
