A lot has been made about Aaron Rodgers’ offseason. Some of it has been positive , while at time he has been overly criticized . There has been a lot of speculation around the health of Rodgers’ Achilles and every step has been analyzed and discussed at length. But speaking for the first time since missing minicamp for a then unknown reason, Rodgers appears ready to go.

The Jets open training camp for rookies on July 18 th while veterans report to camp five days later on the 23 rd in Florham Park, NJ.

In an interview with NBC Sports while taking part in the American Century Championship golf tournament, Rodgers said that the final hole on Sunday will mark the end of his time off ahead of the 2024 season.

“My Achilles feels good, you know, I felt really good at the end of last year,” Rodgers said. “There’s always that kind of plateau part. It’s just about getting back into it. I felt good all spring. Had a beautiful trip to Egypt. This is like the last marker. Summer’s over on Sunday. Walking up on 18 is like super bittersweet, but it’s fun to be out.”

Rodgers said he has felt about 90% back to his former self since tearing his Achilles in September. While Rodgers is 40-years old and will turn 41 during the season, 90% of Aaron Rodgers is better than 100% of some of the other quarterbacks the Jets have had in recent memory.

"I can obviously still throw with the best of them and can still move around and look forward to my confidence and my ability to move, getting back to where it was last year and going out and playing well," Rodgers said. "I think all the individual possibilities for recognition would be great, but if I play the way I'm capable of playing, we're going to be playing for a lot more than that."

While his physical condition may not have gone up 100% yet, it’s clear that his attitude and motivation are still as high as ever. Rodgers seems determined to prove all those who said he couldn’t return from his Achilles injury wrong this season, and it will be much to the Jets benefit.

I’ve said often this off-season that the Jets will only be able to go as far as Rodgers’ repaired Achilles will take them. If the Jets are able to manage his workload will integrating the offense around his specifications, the Jets will be in the playoffs and a dangerous team in January.
