Save an osprey, ride a kayak. This kayaker in Florida witnessed quite the spectacle while out on his kayak, and he was able to capture all of it on camera. When you are exploring the outdoors, there is always the chance that you get thrown right into the middle of nature, and that's exactly what happened with this guy. While he was out paddling around in his fancy kayak, he floated up on an a mid-air osprey fight. At one point, the two birds got their talons locked and tangled, which caused them to fall into what the kayaker called a "death spiral," plunging both predatory creatures down into the water. The Florida man paddled over to see if one or both of the osprey were hurt, but they just turned out to be still stuck together from their fight. With both of them uncomfortably treading water, the kayaker decided to assist them in getting unstuck, and used his handy-dandy oar to coax them apart. As he explained in the narration that played over the video:
"I was able to get them separated. One took off immediately, but the other one was too tired to take off. After several attempts, I could see he needed some help." And that help came in the form of the man's kayak basically transforming into an "osprey Uber" for the bird. The Florida man was able to encourage the osprey up onto the kayak, and it honestly didn't take much convincing. That gives us a good idea that it really was worn out from the battle that had just ensued. The man shows the osprey calmly sitting on the back of his kayak, kindly accepting and enjoying the riding. There were apparently some mangroves nearby, so the kayaker headed that direction to drop off the osprey. Not long after the man dropped the bird off in a safe spot, the bird took flight once again and resumed its regularly scheduled activities. But it will always be able to tell its bird friends about the fateful day it hitched a ride on a human's kayak: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7zdz-GuLN5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
