‘Largest addiction rehabilitation center in the Northeast’ to come to University City
Real estate investment group Creating Shared Communities will build a 517,000-square-foot addiction rehabilitation center at 3700 Ludlow St., blocks away from Penn’s campus. When completed, the 40-story building is set to have both inpatient and outpatient services and will be the largest addiction rehabilitation center in the Northeast. General manager of CSC Sal Smeke called the facility the “Mayo Clinic of drug abuse in the Northeast.”

84-year-old man dies in house fire in Kensington, police say
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An 84-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police said. The fire happened on the 2300 block of East Lehigh Avenue at 1:35 p.m.Police said the man was found inside the house on the first floor unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at 1:42 p.m., according to police. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A grant is also paying him to learn and teach younger kids."I'm glad I did this not for the money but for college applications, future references, future jobs; it's just a fun thing to do and the people I'm working with, I hope these bonds last outside of here," he said.The Why Project is the brainchild of 25-year-old Justin Hill, a recent graduate of Columbia University. He is set to start law school at Temple University in the fall.The Philadelphia resident says this digital camp is about closing the gap between education and the professional world all while emphasizing culture and helping young people believe they belong.
