Multiple Fond du Lac Dock Spiders taken in 2024 MLB Draft, tied for fifth-most in Northwoods League

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – The 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft wrapped up on Tuesday, and the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders had a handful of representatives whose names were called.

Five current and former players from the Dock Spiders were chosen throughout the three-day draft, which tied for the fifth-most amongst teams in the Northwoods League.

The players drafted this year were:

Messina entered the draft as a Top-100 prospect, according to the release, and Mitchell was among the team leaders in multiple offensive categories.

Manitowoc native Noah Wech is the youngest of the draftees and is currently committed to play baseball for Oklahoma State. Wech is the first Dock Spider drafted by the home state Milwaukee Brewers.

Since their inception in 2017, 43 former Dock Spiders have been drafted, most notably Miami Marlins catcher Nick Fortes as well as St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott and right-handed pitcher Ryan Loutos.
