Heightened police presence at Fond du Lac hotels comes amid EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh

FOND DU LAC – EAA AirVenture is back in Oshkosh until July 28, but heightened activity also reaches Fond du Lac.

As one of the biggest events in this part of Wisconsin, many visitors come to the surrounding area during the week, and the Fond du Lac Police Department announced Sunday it would increase presence at local hotels and motels throughout the week.

Officers and investigators will be deployed in marked squad cars looking out for anyone who checks into area hotels or motels to use, deliver or sell narcotics or engage in sex trafficking.

According to the department, hotel employees are often in the best position to see signs of illegal activity, so the department has worked with the city's hotels and motels to educate managers and staff about identifying the dangers and signs of sex trafficking while also raising awareness.
