Angel Reese made WNBA history on Sunday while wearing a Reebok shoe that marks the brand’s reentry into performance basketball.

The Chicago Sky rookie broke the league’s single-season rebounding record on Sunday against the Minnesota Lynx at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Reese grabbed 19 rebounds during the game, giving her 418 for the season, besting the previous record of 404 set by retired WNBA great Sylvia Fowles — who won two championships with the Lynx — in 2018.

With eight games remaining on the Sky’s schedule, Reese will likely significantly extend that record (Although Reese’s new record was the story of Sunday, her Sky fell to the Lynx, 79-74.)

Reese hit the court in the Reebok Engine A , the brand’s first performance basketball shoe release since the early 2010s. The shoe she wore against the Lynx on Sunday was an eye-catching one, dressed predominantly in neon green with black throughout.

The hooper revealed the shoe to the masses for Reebok on Aug. 30 when the Sky hit the Wintrust Arena court in Chicago to face the Indiana Fever. The Engine A is a performance basketball style that the Reebok Advanced Concepts team has been working on since 2022.

Although Reese debuted the shoe, consumers will have to wait until spring 2025 to purchase a pair. Also, Reebok confirmed the Engine A is not Reese’s signature shoe.
