Fords Shoppers Get a Burst of New Businesses

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Good things are happening in Fords with new stores, eateries, and a wellness-provider recently opening their doors in this neighborhood’s go-to business district.

Mayor John E. McCormac says the Fords section is in fact seeing “tremendous interest in its professional office and retail rental spaces.”

“Major credit goes to the Fords Business Community , a group of business owners who have taken steps to bring more people downtown to patronize local businesses,” the mayor said. The township supports their effort, and has "created more parking to make it easier for people to shop and dine there," McCormac noted.

The newest Fords businesses are:

● Speak Freazy , an ice cream shop at 428 New Brunswick Ave.
● That Honey Place , 511 New Brunswick Ave.
● The Glam Palace , a hair salon at 465 New Brunswick Ave.
● BackSmart Wellness , a chiropractic and wellness center, 341 Crows Mill Road

Meanwhile, Halal Express , a new eatery at 33 Lafayette Road, off Ford Avenue and near Route 1, also held a recent grand opening. Halal Express is a short drive from New Brunswick Avenue.

The Fords business district – from King George Post Road to Hopewell’s border with Perth Amboy – is a stretch of small businesses, salons, professional offices and restaurants. Among its longtime landmarks is Fords Jewelers , at 449 New Brunswick Ave., and Siperstein's Paint , at 372 New Brunswick Ave.
