    The Mad Butcher grocery store re-opening following mass shooting in Fordyce

    FORDYCE, Ark. – A Fordyce grocery store that saw a tragic shooting is re-opening to the community.

    In a social post , officials with the grocery store announced that it will re-open Tuesday, July 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Store representatives said that the location will operate on limited hours until further notice.

    “We will be reopening our doors beginning Tuesday, July 2nd at 9:00 AM. Initially, we will operate with limited hours until further notice. Our commitment to serving the Fordyce community remains strong as we continue to heal together. #wearefordycestrong”

    The grocery store was temporarily closed following a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of four people and left several others injured, including multiple police officers.

    Authorities confirmed that 23-year-old Callie Weems, 50-year-old Roy Sturgis, 52-year-old Shirley Taylor and 81-year-old Ellen Shrum were killed in the shooting.

    Travis Posey was identified as the suspected shooter. He pleaded not guilty in Ouachita County to four counts of capital murder and ten charges of attempted capital murder.

    Fordyce shared their experiences about the tragedy, with some recalling their survival story and others mourning the loss of their loved ones.

    Several businesses and state leaders showed support to the Fordyce community. Among those who has offered condolences were Chicago nonprofit Lutheran Churches Charity, gospel artist Kirk Franklin and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
