IOWA CITY, Iowa — Solon graduate Callie Levin committed to Iowa in August, 2021-before she even started her sophomore year of high school. She grew up just down the road from Iowa City, her father works in the compliance department at the university, and she still has an autographed Samantha Logic basketball from when she was in elementary school.

A 3-year-old child is in critical condition after being attacked by two pit bulls in Brooklyn Park, as confirmed by the Brooklyn Park Police Department on July 19. The incident, which took place in the 7500 block of Brooklyn Park Drive N., led to officers shooting both animals, resulting in the death of one and the injury of the other. According to the police report, the officers were dispatched at 12:45 PM and found the dogs actively attacking the child upon arrival.

CCSD School Board Approved Of $213K Project For Fairview Playground Resurfacing
The Carroll Community School District’s Fairview Elementary playground will look a little different for the upcoming school year, with the resurfacing project approved during Monday’s Board of Education meeting. GameTime with Cunningham Recreation has been awarded the contract to resurface the area, replacing the woodchips with a soft, rubber surface. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says the district is looking to spend just over $213,000 for this project for two main reasons.
