Jarred Howard steps down after 24 years with Forest Park baseball
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Over at Forest Park High School, it’s the end of a fantastic coaching career for Rangers’ baseball Head Coach Jarred Howard. Howard has been at the helm of the program for 24 seasons, amassing 379 career victories where he was top 20 among active coaches in the state of Indiana. He was at the helm of the program when the Rangers won sectional titles in 2002 and 2022. But now, Howard steps aside to spend more time with family. Congrats on an excellent coaching career for him.

Delta organizes send-off for Team USA Olympic athletes at Atlanta airport
Delta Air Lines celebrated members of Team USA on Wednesday at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport before the athletes flew to Paris for the Summer Olympic Games.The airline had T-shirts and water bottles at the gate where archers, fencers, basketball players and other athletes were scheduled to depart. Signs read, “Good Luck Team USA!” and “A Merci Beaucoup From Us to You.” Atlanta-based Delta is managing travel for all U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes.Mary Theisen-Lappen, a weightlifter who will compete in the Olympics for the first time, was among the celebrated athletes.“I'm excited," she said. “I'm nervous.”Passenger Gillian Tran, 17, from Tallahassee, Florida, was delighted to learn she would be on the same flight as the athletes when she got to the gate. She said her family won tickets to the Paris Games in a lottery two years ago. She posed for photos with some of the athletes.“I'm also excited to go to the Olympics because I did a history fair project about the 1936 Olympics two years ago,” she said.The opening ceremony for the Games is scheduled for July 26.

Emory & Henry becomes full NCAA Division II member
Emory & Henry College has become a full NCAA Division II member for the upcoming academic year. A news release from the college says the NCAA membership committee deliberated after Emory & Henry completed the necessary annual reporting. Emory & Henry leadership were informed last Thursday that the NCAA had granted the full membership to the school. Now that the college is Division II, the Wasps can qualify for the NCAA Tournament if they win the South Atlantic Conference or perform well enough in the season. Emory & Henry joined the South Atlantic Conference in the 2022-23 school year with provisional status in hopes of becoming a full Division II member by 2024. In April, Emory & Henry announced the multi-million dollar Food City Sports Complex was expected to open by August this year.
