BUFFALO, N.Y. — People packed Niagara Square and downtown Buffalo on Saturday, ready to sample some of Western New York's finest food and drink at the Taste of Buffalo. Among those people with big appetites were more than 60 judges, who had the envious task of trying different dishes to determine the best items at the two-day event.
Woman Charged with Possessing Crack Cocaine in Jamestown Traffic Stop
A traffic stop Saturday evening in Jamestown led to the arrest of a woman on a felony drug charge. Jamestown Police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Barrett Avenue and the Barrett Avenue ramp for infractions at about 8:45 PM. Officers were given consent to search the vehicle driven by 55-year-old Denise Pattyson. Inside the vehicle, officers found 7.3 grams of crack cocaine. Pattyson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail to be held pending arraignment for 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was also issued traffic tickets.

Central NY’s hottest start to summer continues with heat advisory, storm alert
Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse’s hottest summer on record will continue this week with more high temperatures and thunderstorms. A heat advisory is in effect for about 20 counties across Upstate New York, including Onondaga County, for today and Tuesday. The heat index, which calculates the effect of heat and humidity on the human body, will soar into the upper 90s in Syracuse, the National Weather Service says.
