Conner Kienbaum had four hits as the Fort Atkinson Generals knocked off the McFarland Muskies 5-1 in Home Talent League baseball at Jones Park on Thursday.

The Generals (5-4, 3-2 in division games) grabbed the lead in the first inning and never relinquished it when Kienbaum doubled to center with one out, scoring two runs.

The Muskies (3-6, 2-4) cut their deficit in half in the second with Austin Miller scoring on a passed ball.

In the sixth, Fort got consecutive two-out RBI singles to the left side by Cam Haagensen and Jay Rueth to build a 4-1 advantage.

Cole Bovre singled in a run with two away in the Generals’ seventh for the final margin.

Haagensen, Branden Zastrow and Josh Crandall had two hits apiece for Fort. Crandall, the team’s third baseman, made a pivotal run-saving play with the bases loaded in the fourth, diving to grab a liner off Jack Sommers’ bat.

Earlier in the inning, Cam Schaff was thrown out by several steps at the dish trying to score from second on Ian Galloway’s single to center.

Austin Paul started for Fort and earned the decision. He allowed an earned run on six hits with three strikeouts in six innings. Kroix Kucken pitched the final three innings, striking out seven.

Fort hosts Lake Mills on Sunday at noon.
