One of Fort Collins' very own has received a top honor for prep lacrosse coaches.

USA Lacrosse has named Poudre School District girls lacrosse coach Pam Kramer as a Coach of the Year for Colorado.

The award recognizes "individual’s overall coaching performance and contribution, not just coaching wins - although they may be considered. Nominees must demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field, and also demonstrate excellent rapport with their players, officials, and other coaches," according to a news release from USA Lacrosse.

Kramer led the Stars to an 11-6 record this past spring, including a Class 5A playoff win over Palmer Ridge. PSD has compiled a 36-15 record over the past three seasons.

She is a popular presence in local lacrosse, serving as the team's only coach since it began in 2016-17 and guiding the Stars through name changes (Rocky Mountain Lobos to PSD Stars) and classification changes (4A to 5A) during her eight-year tenure.

Led by Kramer, the PSD program has also helped seven athletes continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level over the past three seasons.

The Stars' longtime coach was chosen based on a vote from her Colorado coaching peers.
