Cheyenne Day brings smoke, heat to Frontier Days
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Today, residents and visitors in Cheyenne will experience smoky skies and high temperatures. As Cheyenne Day for Frontier Days unfolds, smoke from Canadian and northwestern U.S. wildfires will drift into the area. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Alert. Those sensitive to smoke should limit outdoor activities.
Reigning World Champs dominate CFD Quarterfinals 3
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Reigning world champions Zeke Thurston and Ky Hamilton dominated their signature events in Quarterfinals 3 of the 128th Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. Thurston, who won his fourth world title last December, notched the first 90-point ride of the 2024 Daddy of ’em All when he rode Brookman Rodeo’s Ragin Lunatic to win the round by four points.

CASPER, Wyo. — Fire crews are working a wildland fire on the east side of Casper Mountain on Tuesday, July 23. A Casper Firefighters Facebook post around 5:30 p.m. said that the Natrona County Fire District, Evansville Fire-EMS and Bureau of Land Management are engaging resources, including a helicopter.
Family Planning Receives Grant for New Equipment
ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Family Planning is the recipient of a grant that will help it purchase new equipment. The United Way of Southwest Wyoming recently awarded the organization a $7,275 grant to purchase a new exam bed, exam light, a colposcope, and an Autoclave. Alex Roberson, the director of Western Wyoming Family Planning, said the new equipment not only upgrades what they already have but also helps improve the services they offer. The light in particular is a needed upgrade because Roberson said the clinical provider often uses her chin to readjust it while conducting an exam.
