Former Catholic Church undergoes transformation to a residence
When Curtis and Nicole Lindgren and their partners, Nicole’s parents, Don and Lynne Davies, first looked at the former Catholic Church, their interest was to make it into a really nice rental. They knew from the start it was going to take some major remodeling, but they liked the building, its setting and the interior. It had some plusses, but it had some big challenges too.
Otto minors, majors wrap up season’s final games
The Little League season ended for the Otto majors and minors team with their final home games against Thermopolis. Porter Aagard pitched the first three innings for the Rattlers. Thermopolis scored two runs in the first inning and Otto responded with Jaxon Buck getting a hit that earned him a single and eventually stealing home for the only run for the Rattlers in the bottom of the first.
Boy Scouts Volunteer At Jewel Cave
Jewel Cave National Monument hosted three Boy Scout troops on Saturday, June 29th for a service project involving the pulling of invasive plants from the Monument. Two of the troops were from Rapid City, and one from Casper, Wyoming. They worked with park staff members Christine Longenecker, Community Volunteer Ambassador, and Dylan Hansen, Lead Vegetation Technician. After a safety talk, the Scouts worked hard for the next two and a half hours in the Monument’s Historic Area and pulled an impressive half truckload of invasive plants. The invasive plants pulled included hounds tongue, Canada thistle, and mullein.
Land Trust hosts free wellness classes at Greenspace on the Block
JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Land Trust is hosting a new summer-long program at the Greenspace on the Block with free yoga classes and mental health resilience classes. Every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. until Aug. 26, Erwin Velasquez will teach English/Spanish yoga classes. Every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. until Aug. 28, Jes Neuhaus will teach Hatha Yoga classes, a branch of yoga focusing on breathing techniques and channeling energy sources. Both instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and also teach classes locally. Some yoga mats, donated by Lululemon, will be available to use on a first come, first served basis.

Town of Afton Board Meeting Summary
Town of Afton board members met in their regularly scheduled meeting in June and discussed the following items. Fungal disease wreaks havoc on area’s elm trees
When Veda Gerrard visited Whaley Cemetery in Shell in May, she noticed the elm trees ringing the property appeared sickly. Later, she found similar symptoms in two elm trees on her own property and her concerns mounted— she put it down to the warm winter, sudden cold snap, and wet spring, but all of them and so suddenly? Gerrard began making calls, wondering if there was an outbreak or new invasive pest in the Basin and if there was any chance she might be able to save her trees.
Tuesday Night Square Dances in Dubois are back this summer!
The Summer Tuesday Night Square Dances have been a tradition in Dubois since 1948!. St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church Women established the Summer Square Dances as a fundraiser which would also provide family entertainment for visitors and locals and create a safe place for young people on a weeknight. The Tuesday night square dances have become an integral part of the Dubois summer season. Townsfolk look forward to the start of the dances each summer, as do neighbors in surrounding towns, tourists, and guests of the guest ranches in the valley.
