FORT PIERCE − A Port St. Lucie man died Wednesday following a vehicle crash on South U.S. 1, a Fort Pierce Police spokesperson said Friday.

Police about 4:32 p.m. Wednesday went to the incident in the 3200 block of South U.S. 1, said April Lee, police spokesperson.

She said the crash happened as a Toyota Corolla traveled south on South U.S. 1 and made a left turn. The Toyota turned in front of a Hyundai Sonata northbound on U.S. 1, and the crash occurred, Lee said.

The passenger of the Toyota, a 40-year-old Port St. Lucie man, was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce where he died, Lee said. The Toyota driver wasn’t hurt, Lee said.

That name of the man who died was not immediately released.

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were taken to Lawnwood in stable condition.

Police continue to investigating the crash.

Those with information are asked to contact Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-TIPS or Officer Nicholas McWilliams at 772-618-3086 or nmcwilliams@fppd.org.
