    Below are summaries of local Victory League Baseball games between June 19 and June 23, compiled Nick Tabatt.

    Rebels lose to Avon

    The Fort Ripley Rebels traveled to Avon, Sunday, June 23, losing 4-2. Adam Jensen and Bryce Flanagan each threw one strikeout mound. Bill Sather and Eli Roberts went 2-4 at the plate, both earning and RBI. The Rebels who scored two runs in the game were Alex Haapajoki and Bryce Flanagan. Avon had 11 hits and no errors while the Rebels had 10 hits and two errors.

    Bluejays upset Brewers

    The Upsala Bluejays hosted the Pierz Brewers, winning the home game 8-3. The Bluejays’ winning pitcher, CJ Clear was on the mound for five innings, throwing one strikeout and allowing two walks. Matt Swanson pitched four innings with two strikeouts and allowed one walk. Justin Cichon hit two home runs, two RBIs and three runs. Others with RBIs were Swanson, Brandon Welinski and Bryce Binek. The Bluejays had 16 hits and no errors.

    Despite the loss, the Brewers still put up some respectable numbers at the plate. Gunnar Wicklund went 4-5, hitting two doubles, with an RBI and a run. Other hitters who hit a double were Rylee Rauch and Chuck Boser. Michael Leidenfrost hit a triple and scored a run. Rauch pitched over five innings, throwing five strikeouts. The Brewers had 12 hits and one error.

    Skis beat Bulldogs on the road

    The Sobieski Skis traveled to take on the Pierz Bulldogs, winning 11-1 in eight innings. Beau Thoma pitched seven innings, throwing 12 strikeouts. The Skis who had two runs batted in were Collin Eckman, Dusty Parker, Alex Thoma and Owen Bode.

    The Bulldogs’ Reece Hubbard led the team at the plate, going 2-3. Hubbard and Reece both earned two stolen bases.

    Billygoats beat against Falcons

    The Buckman Billygoats hosted the Flensberg Falcons, winning with a 17-0 shutout in seven innings. The winning pitcher, Todd Robinson, threw 10 strikeouts in six innings. Rylan Robinson pitched one inning and threw three strikeouts. Max Barclay went 4-5 at the plate, having six runs batted in. Ben Thoma followed with five RBIs. The Billygoats had 19 hits and no errors.

    The Falcons starting pitcher, Peter Knopik pitched over one inning, throwing two strikeouts. Both Carter Holman and Carlos Melanciano went 2-3 and hit a double. The Falcons had five hits and one error.

    Lakers outscore Cubs in close game

    The Pierz Lakers traveled to Randall, beating the Cubs 4-3. The Lakers’ Carter Petron was on the mound for over seven innings, throwing nine strikeouts. Chad Weiss pitched over one inning with one strikeout. On the plate, Weiss hit a home run, along with a double and had two RBIs. Brady Petron also had a double and earned two runs. The Lakers ended the game with seven hits and one error.

    The Cubs’ Matt Otremba led the team at the plate, hitting two doubles and one walk. Brett Strack also had a walk and two RBIs. Caleb Strack pitched all nine innings, throwing 12 strikeouts and allowing one walk. The Cubs had 11 hits and four errors.

    Lakers beat Bulldogs

    In a battle between two Pierz teams, the Pierz Lakers upset the Pierz Bulldogs 7-1 Wednesday, June 19. The Lakers’ Preston Rocheleau threw 14 strikeouts in eight innings and allowed one walk. Chad Weiss pitched for one inning and threw one strikeout. Rocheleau went 2-3 at the plate, with one home run and two RBIs. Other Lakers with RBIs were Carter Petron, Kamden Happke and Kirby Fischer. The Lakers had no errors and six hits.

    The Bulldogs’ only score came from Mason Herold in the eighth inning. The bases were loaded when Reese Hubbard earned a walk, sending Herold from third base home. Herold also threw two strikeouts on the mound. The Bulldogs had two hits and two errors.

    Billygoats top Brewers in close game

    The Buckman Billygoats defeated the Brewers with a 10-5 victory Wednesday, June 19. The Billygoats had two home runs coming Matt Kummet. Matt Tautges and Max Barclay also had a one home run each. Tautges was the winning pitcher, throwing seven strikeouts in eight innings. Ben Thoma also threw one strikeout in one inning. The Billygoats had 16 hits and two errors.

    The Brewers’ Gunnar Wicklund scored a home run for the team, along with hitting a double, earning a run and had three RBIs. Peter Schommer also had an RBI and a stolen base. Phil Zynda and Shommer each thew three strikeouts on the mound. The Brewers had nine hits and one error.
