Eric Huber, former lieutenant of the Fort Smith Public Schools Police Department, was sworn in Monday as the new chief of police for the school district at the Sebastian County Courthouse, Juvenile Courtroom.

Huber replaces former chief Bill Hollenbeck, who left the district in May.

Huber said as the new chief he “underscores the Fort Smith school district's commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, and community,” according to a news release from the district.

Huber brings 31 years of law enforcement experience and a strong community engagement and safety focus, the release says.
