An OCSO Facebook post said 20-year-old Kevin Mauricio Escobar Munoz was arrested on July 17 and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail.

OCSO officials said the victim told investigators that she woke up to a man she did not know covering her mouth with his hand and sexually assaulting her in her Fort Walton Beach home around 7 a.m. on April 21.

An exam of the girl found she was sexually assaulted, and on July 11, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was able to match the DNA from the sexual assault kit to Escobar Munoz, according to the OCSO.

Escobar Munoz was also charged with burglary with battery for forcing entry into the victim’s home. OCSO officials said he lived within 1 mile of the victim’s home.
