FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Playing in front of over 9,300 fans, the TinCaps provided plenty of early fireworks in a 9-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts on July 4.

Thursday’s crowd was the second largest for a game in Parkview Field history. Only 2019’s Fourth of July game had a larger attendance with over 9,500 fans.

The TinCaps jumped ahead with three runs in the first inning. Homer Bush Jr. put the TinCaps on the board thanks to a fielding error by Lansing. Nick Vogt followed that up with a RBI single that scored Romeo Sanabria. A Kai Murphy groundout also allowed Beshears to plate another run.

Lansing scored their only run of the game on a solo shot in the fourth inning. However, the TinCaps answered with five runs in the fourth inning. Joshua Mears, Colton Bender, Anthony Vilar and Sanabria each pounded at the plate to pad onto Fort Wayne’s lead. Vilar then capped off a strong day at the plate with a RBI single in the sixth inning.

Fort Wayne hosts Lansing again on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
