FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Alex Aleardi recalls some of his earliest memories at Memorial Coliseum. Born in the mid-nineties, the Fort Wayne native remembers sitting alongside his father watching the Komets battle at the Jungle.

Aleardi moved away from Fort Wayne when he was about three years old. However, the veteran forward still considers Fort Wayne to be his home town.

Fast forward to this year, and Aleardi’s hockey career comes full circle after signing with the Komets. The orange and black announced Tuesday that they have signed the 31-year old forward for the upcoming season.

Aleardi is coming off an all-star season with the Rapid City. The forward skated in every game with the Rush this past season, breaking the franchise record in points scored with 79 (31 goals, 48 assists).

Aleardi also skated for Komets head coach Jesse Kallechy when the two were with the Florida Everblades. After connecting with his former coach, Aleardi decided it was a no-brainer to lace up for the Komets this coming season.

Along with Aleardi, the Komets have 17 players signed so far for the upcoming season.
