Rain and cooler temperatures on the horizon for Dallas-Fort Worth. Here’s when

After a sweltering past few weeks, rain is finally in the forecast for Dallas-Fort Worth.

The North Texas region has recorded 15 days over 100 degrees in August alone, according to National Weather Service Fort Worth data . In total, Dallas-Fort Worth has seen 23 days over triple digits this year.

However, cooler temperatures and rain chances are on the horizon, NWS lead meteorologist Jason Dunn said.

High temperatures throughout the week will be in the mid to upper 90s, Dunn said. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

The best chances for rain this week will begin in Central Texas and slowly move up to North Texas over the weekend, Dunn said.

North Texas has a 30% chance of scattered showers Friday, followed again by another 30% chance Saturday. Sunday will be much of the same, with a 30% chance of rain throughout the day.

A disturbance out of the Gulf of Mexico is to thank for the moisture coming North Texas’ way over the weekend.

“Subtle changes, but enough to help bring some scattered showers and storms,” Dunn said.
