Why not make it a Texas barbecue weekend?

July 5 in particular is the perfect day for barbecue insiders to beat the lunch crowd.

Most brisket or rib fans will fill up on July 4. So they won’t get up early and rush out for lunch July 5.

Busy restaurants like Goldee’s and Ribbee’s in Fort Worth and Dayne’s in Aledo are among the regional favorites that will be open regular hours all weekend.

Ribbee’s adds chicken and pulled pork

Ribbee’s, a ribs-and-fries takeout or delivery stand near Interstate 35W at 923 E, Seminary Drive, has expanded its menu since it opened in March.

Now, it serves barbecued or lemon-pepper-rub chicken, pulled-pork sliders and a Sunday special: beef ribs.

Ribbee’s originally sold only rib dinners four ways: with a dry rub, a spicy rub, with a regular sauce or a hot-honey sauce.

The chicken was sold out the other day. But the baby back ribs matched those at Ribbee’s mother ship, Goldee’s. And the crinkle fries are near-perfect.

Don’t miss the shakes in flavors such as peach or Big Red, or the banana pudding.

Ribbee’s opens for lunch and dinner Thursday through Sunday. It’s open regular hours July 4 and all weekend; look for occasional BOGO specials on DoorDash.com, or go to ribbees.com .

A good weekend for short lines at Goldee’s

Goldee’s Barbecue, which has built a legend for both barbecue and lines at its backroad stand south of Kennedale, will open for lunch only at 11 a.m. July 5-7 as usual.

The line at 4645 Dick Price Road usually forms about 8:30 or 9 a.m. on Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. Sundays. Or go about 1:30 p.m. after the lunch run — some items on the whiteboard menu will be sold out, but what’s left will still be good.

Dayne’s in Aledo is serving lunch, but go early

Dayne’s Craft Barbecue is the New Big Thing in Texas, so the Parker County restaurant often sells out by early afternoon.

It’s open regular hours July 3-7, lunch only, at 100 S. Front St.. Aledo. Dayne’s also will be smoking extra briskets and turkey for holiday orders,

At Dayne’s, you never know what surprise is on the board that day, along with the traditional prime brisket, spare ribs, turkey, pork and special sausages.

The famous Dayne’s double cheeseburger — often ranked the area’s best — is now available every day, but it might sell out.

Many barbecue restaurants did not announce whether they’ll be open this weekend, so give your favorite a try.

▪ Angelo’s Barbecue, for 66 years a go-to choice for barbecue and sides on short notice, is open until 3 p.m. July 4 and then regular hours; 2533 White Settlement Road, 817-332-0357 , angelosbbq.com .

▪ Hickory Stick BBQ , a charming small-town restaurant voted Star-Telegram readers’ favorite, opens from 8 a.m. through dinner Wednesday through Saturday. It will stay open until 6 p.m. on July 4.

Hickory Stick’s platters cost less than $20 and the sandwiches cost less than $10, so this is barbecue that doesn’t require a trip to the bank.

One big plus for Hickory Stick: You can go at mid-morning before it gets hot.

▪ Panther City BBQ is open until 8 p.m. July 4-6 as usual, so dine right up until the fireworks start.
