    Five restaurants closed, pests seen at several places in latest Fort Worth inspections

    Five restaurants were closed due to serious health violations, several places received high scores, and pests were seen in the latest Fort Worth health inspections, according to city data.

    There were 122 inspections from June 30 to July 13.

    Fort Worth inspection scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 30, the restaurant must take immediate corrective action on all identified critical violations, then has 48 hours to initiate corrective action on all other violations.

    Five restaurants were closed due to violations including inadequate refrigeration, flies, live roaches, and rodent droppings:

    • Fiesta Mexican Foods at 3233 Hemphill St., 28

    • Super Mercado Monterrey at 2916 Hemphill St., 24 in follow-up

    • Panther City BBQ at 225 East Pennsylvania Ave., 11

    • Taco Heads at 1812 Montgomery St., 11

    • Rock Springs Cafe at 3220 Rock Springs Road, 3

    Super Mercado Monterrey was the only restaurant to receive more than 30 demerits. It was closed after its follow-up inspection.

    Sixteen restaurants received high scores of 25 or over including:

    • Taqueria Guelaquetza at 2400 Vaughn Blvd., 29

    • K Pop Burger at 12404 Timberland Blvd., 26

    • Black Bear Diner at 9501 North Freeway, 26

    • Ninja Sushi And Grill at 4714 SW Loop 820, 27

    • Super Pollo at 805 North Sylvania Ave., 28

    • Carniceria La Superior at 700 North Sylvania Ave., 28

    • Campisi’s Italian Restaurant at 6150 Camp Bowie Blvd., 28

    • Big Apple Cafe at 14200 Trinity Blvd., 28

    Four other restaurants had follow-up inspections:

    • Wings Haven at 5001 East Berry St., 19
    • Byblos Lebanese Rest at 1406 North Main St., 12
    • Taco Heads at 1812 Montgomery St., 9
    • Panther City BBQ at 225 East Pennsylvania Ave., 7

    Inspectors observed live and dead rodents and rat droppings at the following restaurants:

    • China Express at 5512 East Lancaster Ave., 18
    • Union Gospel Mission at 1321 E Lancaster Ave., 15
    • Crab Pack at 3840 NE Loop 820, 12
    • Rock Springs Cafe at 3220 Rock Springs Road, 3

    Roaches were an issue at several restaurants:

    • Byblos Lebanese Rest at 1406 North Main St., 29
    • Mariscos Sonora at 730 North Sylvania Ave.,24
    • Mexican Inn Cafe at 2700 East Lancaster Ave., 21
    • Waffle House at 251 West Rendon Crowley Road, 21
    • HG Supply Co at 1621 River Run, 17
    • Buffalo Wild Wings at 12832 South Freeway, 14
    • Colonial Country Club at 3735 Country Club Circle, 13
    • Taco Heads at 1812 Montgomery St.,11

    Flies and gnats were seen at thirty-nine restaurants, some of which included:

    • Campisi’s Italian Restaurant at 6150 Camp Bowie Blvd., 28

    • 54th Street Restaurant & Drafthouse at 9251 Rain Lily Trail, 19

    • Wonderpho Noodles & Springroll Bar at 2747 South Hulen St., 17

    • Heim’s BBQ at 5333 White Settlement Road, 16

    • Velvet Taco at 2700 West 7th St., 16

    • Blue Goose Cantina at 1600 South University Drive, 13

    • Texas De Brazil at 101 North Houston St., 10

    • Wingstop at 501 Carroll St., 10

    • Fuzzy’s Taco Shop at 5724 Bryant Irvin Road, 9

    • Buc-ee’s at 15901 North Freeway, 3

    • Hissho Sushi at Target at 301 Carroll St., 3

    Mamma Mia Italian Grill & Pizza was warned it would be issued a citation or closure if it did not resolve issues with its air conditioning. According to inspectors, the HVAC in the kitchen was at 107 degrees. The restaurant is also experiencing issues with its ice machine and black organic matter growing inside the ice machine at the register. The establishment received 23 demerits.
