A girl in the backseat of a vehicle was shot early Wednesday on Interstate 30 in west Fort Worth in an assault possibly motivated by road rage, police said.

A driver tried about 12:15 a.m. to pass a vehicle on the freeway and then pulled parallel to it, Fort Worth police said. A person fired multiple rounds into the vehicle in which the girl sat, shooting her in the leg.

Police did not release the girl’s age. They indicated that she is under 17. Her injury is not life-threatening, police said.

Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Horne Street.

Police did not announce an arrest. The victim was taken to a hospital.
