To take some of the stress out of the new school year for many Phoenix families, these local establishments are hosting back-to-school supply drives for Arizona students. During July and August, guests who visit any of Spinato’s Pizzeria six locations will see coat racks adorned with backpacks. Educational information about A New Leaf–which provides life-changing services to those facing domestic violence, homelessness and other heartbreaking challenges–will be available, and guests will have a chance to make a $25 donation when closing out their order (though all donation amounts are welcome). All proceeds will benefit A New Leaf, and donated funds will help purchase school supplies and other items to fill the backpacks. Police identify man found shot to death at central Phoenix home
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police have identified a man who was found dead inside a central Phoenix home earlier this week. On Monday around 3:45 p.m., Phoenix police were called to a home near 3rd Street and Townley Avenue, south of Dunlap Avenue, for reports of a shooting. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found 68-year-old John Sleeth shot at least once. Sleeth died at the scene, police said.
