FOUR OAKS, N.C. (WNCN) – Deputies found a man and woman lying dead inside a bedroom of a Johnston County home over the weekend.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call on Sunday morning from family members of 33-year-old Kyle Trabel asking for a welfare check at this home on Scout Road in Four Oaks. When deputies arrived on scene, they saw heavy smoke coming out of the residence and then requested the fire department, the sheriff’s office said.

Once firefighters made it to the home, they made entry into the residence to put out any fire that broke out as well as further investigate the smoke. Inside the home, firefighters discovered a woman, later identified as 39-year-old Miriah Woody, dead on the bed in the master bedroom, the sheriff’s office said.

Meanwhile, fire crews also located Trabel also lying dead in the master bedroom. Both Woody and Trabel had suffered a gunshot wound, deputies said.

“It was later learned Kyle and Miriah were in a dating relationship,” according to a news release from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said there are no suspects being sought in this investigation.

“The investigation remains ongoing with no additional details being released at this time,” the news release stated.

Along with the sheriff’s office, the Johnston County fire marshal and medical examiner also responded to the scene.
