KANSAS, Okla. — An autopsy report released Thursday on the cause of death of Oklahoma teenager Trey Glass failed to provide any answers for the family or for law enforcement officials.

Trey Glass, 19, of Kansas, Oklahoma, was last seen on December 17 at Wilkerson’s Ranch in southern Delaware County. His body was recovered in April by the Cherokee Nation Marshal’s Dive Team from a well on the ranch.

Authorities confirm teen’s body found in well is Trey Glass

According to the seven-page autopsy report, the cause and manner of Glass’s death are listed as unknown.

“I personally don’t agree with the results.”

    Emma Sanders, Trey’s cousin

Glass’s body was found “submerged in water near the bottom of a well,” the autopsy report states. He was located approximately 17 feet below the top of the well, in an approximate water depth of seven feet.

The Glass family, the Kansas police department, and Cherokee Nation Marshals searched a spring, pond, and a hand-dug well on former Kansas, Okla. Police Chief Mike Wilkerson’s property in the weeks following the teen’s disappearance.

Authorities reported that when he disappeared, Trey was finishing his senior year at Kansas Public Schools.  Wilkerson told authorities he saw Glass near the well and that Glass appeared to be intoxicated. Authorities found Glass’s cell phone on December 23 on the side of Road 550 near Wilkerson’s Ranch.

The autopsy report says advance decomposition was present, leaving some skeletal remains and not enough tissue for a complete toxicology report. No injuries or fractures were present, the autopsy report states.

Law enforcement confirmed Trey was last seen with two friends – a juvenile – and a 23-year-old man.  Emma Sanders said Glass and the two friends had argued in the days preceding his disappearance.

Sanders said she had met with the FBI and that the two friends and Wilkerson were interviewed.

“I just have so many questions,” Sanders said.

“We are just praying for the family,” Wilkerson said after learning the autopsy report was released.

Trey lived on the other side of the Cherokee Turnpike from Wilkerson’s ranch at an apartment complex on Cherokee Street.

Wilkerson said he offered Glass a ride home, but the teen rejected the offer and asked if he could cut through Wilkerson’s field.

The spring-fed, hand-dug well was located 40 feet beyond Wilkerson’s backyard fence. As a safety precaution, Wilkerson said he installed 100-pound cattle guards around the well, which limited access.

Authorities say Wilkerson’s wife noticed that one of the cattle guards surrounding the well was opened, allowing calves to enter the area near the well’s rim.  Wilkerson told officials as he was relocating the calves and shutting one of the cattle guard panels, he looked inside the well to make sure a calf had not fallen in and noticed the body.

Persons with information on what might have happened to Glass are encouraged to call the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at (918) 253-4531 or Cherokee Nation Marshal Service investigator Bronson McNiel at (918) 207-3800.
