CARTHAGE, MO — David Haffner Stadium played host to one of many football jamborees in the state of Missouri Friday evening. Carthage, Nevada, and Carl Junction went toe-to-toe in a scrimmage-like matchup to iron out the kinks before Week 1 officially kicks off.

All three teams faced each other on both offense and defense, with an allotted 18 plays before switching sides each go around.

Carl Junction and Nevada got the Jamboree started, and had some spectacular plays on offense throughout their matchup. Running back James Qiu had a breakaway 60-yard touchdown run, leaving the defenders no chance to catch him.

In that same matchup, Carl Junction quarterback Burk Diskin delivered a dime to Jaxton Wobken, who made a touchdown grab with several Nevada defenders in the area.

The hosts were the strongest of the bunch, as Carthage scored more touchdowns than any of its opponents.

From a gnarly spin-move on a breakaway run by Jackson Hettinger to a massive deep ball delivered by Zane Browning for a long touchdown pass, the Tigers offense was clicking all night.

All three teams will kick off their regular seasons on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m. Carthage will start on the road against Waynesville, Carl Junction will also be on the road against Capital City, while Nevada will host Monett.
