New Birkenstock store opening in North County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Birkenstock of San Diego is holding a grand opening event this weekend in celebration of its newest location.

Birkenstock of San Diego has officially opened its 7th San Diego County location in Carmel Valley at 12853 El Camino Real #108.

Boasting the oldest and largest collection of Birkenstock on the West Coast, Birkenstock of San Diego has been family owned and operated since 1976, its website says .

In celebration of the new location, a grand opening event is taking place at Birkenstock Del Mar all weekend long, August 24-25, at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.

During the weekend event, the footwear company says a gift bag will be given to customers with a qualifying purchase (while supplies last), and gift cards up to $50 will be in every bag. One in 10 bags will even have a free pair of shoes inside.

Along with the Birkenstock brand, customers can also choose from Hoka, Ugg, Pikolinos, Olukai, Naot, Blundstone and OOFOS at the new Del Mar store.

The new location joins other Birkenstock of San Diego locations –Sole Concepts – Gaslamp, Birkenstock of Encinitas, Coronado Island, Old Town – San Diego, La Mesa, and Birkenstock Comfort Shoes in Palm Springs.

The store opens at 10 a.m. seven days a week, with hours Mondays through Thursdays until 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays until 8 p.m. and Sundays until 6 p.m.
