LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A Waynesburg man is facing charges after he allegedly came to a woman’s house, stole her truck, and ran over her with it.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that just before noon on Saturday deputies were dispatched to the area of Cemetery Road in Waynesburg in response to a report of a man who had “stolen a vehicle and ran over a female subject.”

While driving to the scene, deputies were informed by Bluegrass 911 that 58-year-old Sherril “Chemo” Padgett of Waynesburg had called in and reportedly told emergency dispatchers where he was.

Authorities said that when deputies found Padgett driving on U.S. 27, he allegedly tried to get away from law enforcement. Deputies eventually caught up with him near the city limits of Somerset.

One Padgett had been apprehended, an investigation showed that Padgett had originally gone to a woman’s home in the area of Cemetery Road, per the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said Padgett went into the woman’s home and took the keys to her truck. A “scuffle” allegedly began when the woman tried to get the keys back from him.

According to deputies, Padgett “gained control over the truck as the female was attempting to get the keys from him and stop him from taking the truck.” This led to Padgett allegedly running over the woman’s legs while leaving the home in the stolen truck.

The woman was treated on the scene for her injuries.
