DENVER ( KDVR ) — Larimer County said a bat that tested positive for rabies near Pioneer Park in Berthoud on Thursday.

Pioneer Park is around downtown Berthoud and it’s home to basketball courts, a roller hockey rink and a playground. There are picnic tables and trails for kids and adults.

While there have been several recordings this year, the county notes that these are just a portion of rabid animals in the county as these are the only ones that have been tested and confirmed. The county said it doesn’t test all animals and these recordings can only be used as a guide to see where there are clusters in Larimer County.

Larimer County is one of many areas in Colorado that has recorded animals that tested positive for rabies this year. Four bats have tested positive for rabies in Jefferson County . Meanwhile, cases of bats with rabies have also been found in Arapahoe County and Boulder County this year.
