DENVER ( KDVR ) — It’s now been a year since two people were found shot and dead in the 2200 block of Galena Street in Aurora , and police and the family are increasing the reward in hopes of receiving any tips about the case.

The Aug. 19, 2023, double homicide of Kejuan Mays, 27, and Omar Williams, 25, was first discovered when Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the alley between Fulton and Galena Streets, just north of East 22nd Boulevard, on the report of an unresponsive man. First responders found the man had multiple gunshot wounds and was dead.

A second body was found a short distance from the first, who also had multiple gunshot wounds and was deceased.

In the year since Mays and Williams’ bodies were discovered, the Aurora Police Department hasn’t received any tips or information about the double shooting. Metro Denver Crime Stoppers increased the reward from $2,000 to $4,500.

“The Major Crime Homicide Unit has worked diligently on this case for the last year, but we’ve reached the point where we need the public’s help to advance the investigation,” said Investigations Division Chief Mark Hildebrand in a release. “We know somebody out there has information about this case. At least one vehicle drove away from the scene and that person has valuable information about what happened.”

Investigators have learned that both men were visiting friends the night of Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, in downtown Denver. However, investigators said there is no indication the victims or their friends were involved in an altercation while in Denver, and both left in Williams’ Dodge Journey.

Officers also obtained surveillance footage of the Dodge Journey leaving the alley between Fulton and Galena Streets, and investigators believe the video shows the vehicle leaving after the murders were committed.

Later, the vehicle was abandoned. Officers recovered it on Oct. 13, 2023, at an apartment complex near East Alameda Parkway and South Kittredge Street.

Mays’ parents, Alonso and Felishea Bradway, are seeking any information about the homicides, no matter how insignificant the tipster might believe the tip to be. Mays was the oldest of four siblings. He also had a son, who will turn 3 years old in September.

“He was a great father and now my son will never know what it’s like to raise his child,” said Felishea Bradway in the Aurora police release. “His brothers and sister will forever miss the person they looked up to. We just want closure. Somebody has the answers we’re looking for. Somebody knows what happened to my son.”

Anyone with any information can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters who provide information that leads to the identification and arrest of a suspect are eligible for a $4,500 reward and can remain anonymous.
