DENVER (KDVR) — A fire started on Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson County, believed to be sparked by a lightning strike.

The “small fire,” dubbed the Goltra Fire, was burning along U.S. 6 near tunnel 1, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 9:45 p.m. responders closed U.S. 6 from its junction with Colorado 58 to Colorado 119 as firefighters were pulled from the front lines because of wind.

It was about 10 acres as of around 7:45 p.m., with the growth “slowed significantly in the shrubs and rock outcroppings.” The sheriff’s office said “there are absolutely no structures in danger as fire crews continue their ground attack.”
