DENVER ( KDVR ) — The Fort Collins SWAT Team apprehended a reportedly armed and dangerous fugitive after a barricade situation on Tuesday.

Fort Collins Police Criminal Impact Unit detectives said they were asked to assist the State of Colorado Parole Division officers in apprehending a wanted fugitive. According to police, the man, 27-year-old Isaac Sanchez-Lopez, was wanted in a shooting that happened in another jurisdiction.

The officers, along with the Fort Collins SWAT Team, responded to a home in the 1100 block of West Mulberry Street to speak with Sanchez-Lopez. However, at around 3 p.m., police said Sanchez-Lopez barricaded himself inside the home.

A reverse 911 call was sent to nearby neighbors as the SWAT team continued to negotiate with Sanchez-Lopez. Fort Collins police said the SWAT team eventually deployed chemical munitions and Sanchez-Lopez surrendered and was immediately taken into custody.

“The commitment and professionalism of Fort Collins Police, the SWAT Team, and our partner agencies led to this suspect being safely taken into custody. The tactics used resulted in no injuries to anyone involved tonight, and for that I’m grateful,” said Assistant Chief Adam McCambridge, who oversees the Special Operations Division of the Fort Collins Police.

    The investigation is ongoing.
