(FOX40.COM) –Two Sacramento-area high schools went into lockdown after police said there were reports of gunshots in the area.

Around 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Natomas Unified School District said it responded to “loud noises” heard around Discovery High School. DHS and Natomas High School campuses were closed while law enforcement investigated the incident.

The Sacramento Police Department said the sounds were reported to be by the school, but not at the school. Officers searched the area of Fong Ranch Road and Bridgegate Way and said they found two juveniles who ran after being approached. Both of them were detained and the school lockdowns were lifted around 2:55 p.m.

The incident is still under investigation.
